Purification using activated carbon filtration process

3 Jan

If you’re looking out for a purification system that will provide you with fresh water or pure air, you’re then required to look out for activated carbon filtration process. According to this process, different layers of carbon are utilized through which a stream of flow of water is allowed to pass at a particular regulation speed. When the water passes through different layers of carbon filter, contaminants are removed based on their particle size. Every carbon filter that has been placed in different layers helps remove a particular size of contaminant from the water.

Activated carbon filtration is mainly used for water purification systems and air purifiers. Depending upon the requirement of cleaning the water or providing fresh air, different carbon filters are used in order to remove a particular set of contaminants from the medium. In usual process, a single activated carbon has a larger surface area to remove the contaminant from the medium. A positively charged carbon particle usually of 495g has the capacity to cover a larger surface area of hundred acres. Apart from this, a single carbon particle is positively charged so that it can attract all the negative particles which are contaminants in the medium.

Setting up an activated carbon filtration process is easy and requires one to build different layers of carbon filters. As said earlier it completely depends upon the requirement, one will have to select a particular medium of carbon filters through which the water has to be passed so that in the end, one will obtain purified water. Usually carbon filters have the capacity to remove 0.5 to 50 µm particle sizes of contamination. This is best useful to remove sediments, volatile compounds and chlorine which is present in water. They are ineffective when certain organic compounds are dissolved in water and there is a huge content of salt and minerals.

Now that you have understood the importance of activated carbon filtration process, it is time that you have set up your own purification system which will provide you with clean water. Such a process can also be used with reverse osmosis system which is mainly found in residential complexes. There are many different ways that one can arrange the carbon filtration process and it completely depends upon the requirement and the output level of purified water. One can also approach a service provider present in the market who will offer you with the installation procedure of carbon filtration.
